PowerShot A570IS Highlights

DIGIC III Image Processor DIGIC III features Face Detection AF/AE, which finds multiple faces in the frame and sets the most suitable focus point, when the shutter button is pressed halfway. And an additional new feature, Face Detection FE adjusts the flash, based on a person’s face on the screen. Exposure and flash are controlled to ensure proper illumination of both the faces and the overall scene, eliminating the common problem of darkened or overexposed faces.

Red-eye Correction detects and automatically corrects red-eye during playback for both regular and flash photography. In unusual cases where red-eye is not automatically detected, it can easily be corrected manually during playback mode from the LCD screen.

iSAPS Technology is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC III Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.

Clear, high-resolution 2.5-inch LCD for easy on-camera viewing The camera’s 2.5-inch LCD screen gives you the big picture, whether you’re shooting, reviewing or showing off your images. This high-resolution screen offers a crisp, clear picture to make shooting, playback and using the camera’s menu functions especially convenient. Clear and bright, it also features Night Display for easy viewing in low light.

ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto The PowerShot A570 IS features new ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater flexibility for shooting.

A variety of movie-making options With a highly flexible movie mode, you can create the movie that’s perfect for any application. Select from VGA (640 x 480 pixels) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels), with frame rates of 30 fps and 15 fps for recording up to 1 hour or 4GB. Also Fast Frame Rate (QVGA; 320 x 240 pixels) recording at 60 fps for up to 1 minute, and Compact Movie Mode (QQVGA; 160 x 120 pixels) recording at 15 fps for up to 3 minutes. The PowerShot A570 IS also supports the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed standard, so you’ll enjoy the fastest possible data transfer speeds when using a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed compatible computer.

Auto Mode Settings Make For Poor Picture Quality
- Reviewd on: 2008-08-29 By: Lucas Smith
I don't want to duplicate what others have said. There are good things about this camera and not so good things. The one thing though that irks me me is the noise performance and in particular that the ISO setting in automatic mode produces very poor quality indoor pictures. For a entry level consumer camera that will be used in auto mode or video mode for 99% of the time this is unacceptable in my opinion.

Awesome Camera- A must have for anyone!!!
- Reviewd on: 2008-08-15 By: Resistafire, Inc.
I had purchased this camera for my husband, since he loves taking pictures, a couple of days before we left for Florida. When we got it, we made sure it worked by taking a couple of pictures. Unknown to us, the camera only worked inside and not outside. This of course we due to the fact that we received a used, already returned camera by accident. But this didn't help us in Florida. We wound up purchasing another camera (Kodak digital). When we returned from our trip, I emailed Amazon and they were awesome about the whole thing. What a relief to find a store that will not ask any questions and they will send you a new one, prior to you returning the old one. The next day, we received the new camera and, yes, it was brand new. I love this camera. It takes wonderful pictures and is easy to download pictures onto your computer. Much easier than the Kodak one that we purchased. Would totally recommend this camera and certainly purchase it through amazon.com, since they are the best in customer service.

Awesome!

I have had this camera for almost a year. It performs very well, takes great pictures, and was a great price. Recently, I had some trouble with the lens extending. Make sure that you do not accidentally press the on button while the camera lense is unable to extend (like while it is in a case that does not allow the lense to extend). It was covered by warranty and Canon fixed it very quickly, with no charge. I am very impressed with this camera and Canon's warranty service. You can't go wrong with this camera! Watch the higher prices charged from some sellers on Amazon; chcek out all the sellers and you'll see that this camera sells for about $170--$180.

Always running out of battery power
- Reviewd on: 2008-08-03 By: Nader Shaikh
Takes decent pictures. But there seems to be a problem with the batteries running out after about 20-50 shots. Others have been having the same problem (just google this).

Nice camera

Best price I could find, quick shipping, You might want to buy this camera from a good shop as I suspect my wife and I are but using half of this cameras features as we know very little about cameras. However we are really enjoying this one. We are happy with the photos it takes, the ease of photo storage and the fact we can e-mail photos to family means we end up using this camera much more than the film camera that this camera replaced. Seems well made.
