Key Features of the Canon SD900 :
  • Pure Titanium compact body with elegant Perpetual Curve design.
  • 10.0 Megapixel Resolution.
  • 3x Optical Zoom.
  • DIGIC III Image Processor with Face Detection Technology for superior image quality, fast operation and low power consumption.
  • Large 2.5 inch LCD monitor with wide viewing angle for easier on-camera viewing.
  • ISO 1600 to reduce image blur and expand low-light shooting capability.
  • High-Resolution Video Mode at 15 fps XGA (1024 x 768).
  • Print/Share Button for easy direct printing and downloading, plus ID Photo Print and Movie Print with Canon CP and SELPHY Compact Photo Printers.
The PowerShot SD900 features a 10-million-pixel CCD sensor. This high-resolution imager ensures every picture will have excellent detail, even when printed large or cropped.

DIGIC III Image Processor
The brand new DIGIC III Imaging Processor developed exclusively by Canon plays an integral role in producing superior images, it speeds up in-camera operations, and improves image quality and functionality. It also maximizes battery consumption for solid performance.

Face Detection
The use of the new DIGIC III processor includes the new face priority function for detecting human faces in a scene for both autofocus and autoexposure. This optimizes both focus and exposure of an image for your subject's face.

High ISO Sensitivity
ISO range up to ISO 1600 for less blur in low light while hand-holding. With the Image Stabilized lens, and exclusive DIGIC II Image Processor, images shot at higher ISO speeds are sharp, and noise is minimal.

2.5-Inch High-Resolution LCD Monitor
Enjoy composing and reviewing images with the big 2.5-inch LCD monitor. With this size LCD screen with 230,000 pixels (twice the resolution of its predecessor), it is quite easy to navigate through the menu and utilize the direct printing features as well.

Enhanced Digital Zoom
The SD900 features two new ways to maximize digital zoom performance: Safety Zoom and Digital Teleconverter. With Safety Zoom enabled the lens will go beyond its optical limit while maintaining acceptable image quality; with lower resolutions additional digital zoom becomes available. The Digital Teleconverter emulates the use of a 1.4x and 2.3x teleconversion lens with impressive image quality.

3x Optical Zoom
As found in previous Digital Elph cameras, the SD900 utilizes a 3x optical zoom lens. This zoom range has proven to be a perfect combination of compact size and incredible usability (35mm equivalent: 37-111). Along with its great zoom range, the SD900's lens is equipped with two aspherical lens elements to ensure high image quality.

Waterproof Case
Expand creative photo opportunities with the waterproof case WP-DC7. Take up to 130 feet underwater and still utilize all of the controls the camera has to offer. (This case is not included. It must be purchased separately.)

Takes Excellent Photos!
- Reviewd on: 2008-10-22 By: Kathy Parsons
I have had my Canon PowerShot for a little more than a year and really enjoy using it. It takes spectacular photos that enlarge well. Like many others, I had trouble with it early on with the dreaded "lens error" message. I sent it back to Canon, and they found sand in the lens (I live on the Oregon Coast and was putting the camera in my pocket when I went to the beach). The first repair cost me about $130 since sand damage is not covered under the warranty. When I got the camera back, the second time I used it, I had another "lens error." I was about ready to chuck the thing in the garbage, but sent it back to the factory. This time the repair was free. In order to protect the camera, I bought a Delkin Snug-It "Tight Fit Camera Skin" and also put the camera in a zip-lock bag when I take it to the beach. I haven't had any more problems with it at all. One word of caution - don't try to put the camera into its case with the skin still on it. I ended up ripping the skin - it's an either-or proposition! Not all of the features of this camera are intuitive, so it really pays to spend some time with the manual to learn about all the things it can do. I'm very pleased with it.

Love Canon
- Reviewd on: 2008-10-21 By: P. Parra
I received this camera when my first Elph (SD320, I think) stopped working. I did a little research on-line and found it was a known problem with that model. I contacted Canon and they sent me a free shipping label so they could fix it. It was about 3 weeks later, Canon sent me a whole new camera (for free!) since my old camera was no longer made and they couldn't get parts. I'd had my old camera around three years and used it A LOT. I love Canon's customer service...love the cameras too!!!

This camera is easy to use, and has great results. Hooking
it up to the computer is easy, and printing pictures is too.
The battery never dies, and there are tons of options to fix
up your pictures how you like them

This is an awesome camera!!! I only wished that I had waited a few more weeks until the 12 MP camera came out. Oh well, technology changes too fast and only millionaires can stay trendy.
