Key Features of the Panasonic DMC-FX35 :
The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35, complete with Panasonic’s first-ever 25mm ultra-wide-lens, features 10.1-megapixel resolution, 4x optical zoom, Panasonic’s Advanced Intelligent Auto mode, a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens offering f2.8 brightness and the new fourth-generation high-performance image processing LSI, the Venus Engine IV. - 10 Megapixel camera with Ultra Compact body.
- Large 2.5" LCD with Auto-Brightness.
- 25mm/f 2.8 wide-angle Leica DC lens.
- Advanced Optical Image Stabilization and Intelligent ISO.
- Autofocus/auto exposure Face Detection.
- HD Motion Capture with component output.
To achieve a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens in the slim design of the FX35, Panasonic developed a new, unevenly thick concave meniscus EA (Extra high refractive index Aspherical) lens. Working closely with Leica to meet their strict standards on lenses, the Lumix FX35’s lens compromises of seven elements in six groups, including four aspherical lenses with six aspherical surfaces.
Panasonic’s Advanced Intelligent Auto mode expands Panasonic’s system of intuitive technologies with the addition of Intelligent Exposure and Digital Red-eye Correction. Consisting of seven advanced and intuitive technologies, with Advanced Intelligent Auto mode, the consumer is able to rely on the advanced technologies happening automatically, without them changing any settings, thus taking high-quality photos is easy and effortless. Advanced Intelligent Auto mode includes:
- Intelligent Exposure With this new feature, photos will no longer be under- or over-exposed. Instead, the FX35, instantly analyze the framed image and adjusts the brightness in areas that are too dark because of dim lighting, backlighting or the use of the flash. The camera will automatically adjust the brightness accordingly.
- Digital Red-eye Correction This feature helps to eliminate the red-eye problem that sometimes results when taking flash shots at the night. Incorporated into the camera, the built-in flash emits a small preliminary flash before the main flash, detects red-eye and will digitally correct it.
- Mega O.I.S. Gyrosensors detect hand-shake and the lens system shifts to compensate, helping to prevent hand-shake from creating a blurry image.
- Intelligent ISO With Intelligent ISO, the FX35 can determine if the photo subject is moving and change the ISO setting and shutter speed accordingly, thus giving a blur-free photo.
- Intelligent Scene Selector Intelligent Scene Selector senses the ambient conditions, recognizes the shooting environment and will automatically select the appropriate scene mode from: Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait or Night Scenery mode. This intuitive technology, helps the consumer use the most common scene modes that are built into the camera, but often go unused, without making any manual adjustments.
- Face Detection Face Detection detects faces anywhere in the frame, even if they are moving, and automatically chooses the optimal focus and exposure settings so portraits come out clear and crisp. Panasonic’s Face Detection detects up to 15 faces.
- Quick AF The Quick AF (auto focus) system starts focus on the subject by just pointing the camera to the subject, thus minimizing the AF time.
You can view slideshows on the FX35’s 2.5-inch LCD, and can also add mood-appropriate music, choosing from natural, slow, urban or swing tunes. The Lumix FX35 incorporates an Intelligent LCD, which detects the lighting condition and controls the brightness level of the LCD in 11 fine steps, to offer a display with the most appropriate clarity in any situation. Users can also enjoy slideshows of captured images with music effects to match the mood of the images. Furthermore, the High Angle mode makes the LCD screen extremely easy to view when the camera is held high, such as when shooting over a crowd.
The Lumix FX35 is capable of recording 720p High Definition motion pictures and 1920 x 1080-pixel High Definition-ready photos that perfectly fit a wide-screen (16:9) HDTV. Panasonic Viera Plasma or LCD HDTVs that have an integrated SD memory card slot, so viewing still images is simple as inserting the SD card. panasonic is junk!!!!!
- Reviewd on: 10/19/2009 12:00:00 AM By: Vito Diciolla
Camera lasted 2 months..... i did not drop it or abuse it in any other way......... after 2 months the zoom buttom broke the camera would zoom all the way out as soon as I turn on the camera.... i have had 2 other Panasonic products quit on me for no good reason ... a arm band radio and a DVD player..... their customer service for warranty is awful as well.... it took a long time (over a month)to get my replacement camera and when it did arrive their was a horrible ugly sticker on the side stating "refurbished item limited 30 day warranty only" the sticker is placed their with super glue or some other permanent glue that is impossible to remove short of getting out some sand paper.... picture quality is average... i like my friends cannon powershot pics beter, even though you are buying a new modern digital camera their is still a long delay after pushing the "shoot" button before the camera actually snaps the picture.... I bought the camera because i found a good deal on an underwater housing for the camera........ but panasonic burned me for the 3rd and final time...... In my opinion they sell highly polished cheap electronic junk!!!!!!!! |

Close but no candy

Bought this camera for my son in college. Very compact, great wide angle (for parties), decent zoom for general photography. The camera seemed to be well built, had good functionality, incredible optics! Alas! the image quality was terrible, just terrible. The imaging unit shows extraordinary amounts of noise, even at the lowest ISO settings which forces it to apply very aggressive noise suppression filtering that produces blotchy images even in very well lit conditions. Indoor pictures, just forget it(when you zoom in they look like paintings). No matter how well made and sophisticated it may be, a camera's only real purpose is to produce good images... My advice, steer clear of this camera, it does not deliver (a real pity considering its compact size, optics and construction). I returned the camera and decided to give Panasonic another chance by ordering the DMC-ZS1. Looks like Panasonic has done a lot of work on the noise issue... but that's a different review. |

Oh little camera, how do i love thee?

First let me say that i purchased this camera from worlwide distributers back in January 09 which were selling this for $206, plus i had a gift card :D. I don't think they are selling this camera anymore though (since i don't see them listed) but other vendors are. So if i were you i wouldn't purchase this for nearly $400 dollars which is the current price at the very top of this page, buy it from someone else for a cheaper price. Since this is an older model, with the fx37 being next camera higher up with a bit more functions and options (like taking photos in a fisheye lens style) yet in with the same design, kind of like nikon d40 and d40x. The camera itself is really great. It has taken some wonderful photos as good as and almost better than my dslr nikon d40. Easy to use. I really like the little wheel at the top that you scroll and chose which setting you want to shoot. Lots of very nifty functions. The video recording function is sweet. You can record in black and white, sepia, or color. Not sure how long it will record for, my guess however long it takes to use up the space on your memory card. I've only gone for 3 mins so i wouldn't know. One negative to it is that you can't zoom or pan while recording. The only thing that frustrates me is that I'm not used to being unaable to manually focus the camera. For everything but the iA (inteligent auto) you have to hold the button lightly to focus. For the iA setting it focuses itself, which is nice but i just now figured that out. And doing a macro or close shot: it takes some time to get it focused, best to use iA for that one too. Overall 4 1/2 stars. The camera is a built sturdy, and has a nice design. Made in Japan. |

Perfect Choice for Realtors!!!
- Reviewd on: 6/24/2009 12:00:00 AM By: Darren Burke
I am not a high tech guy...I am a great realtor though and needed a camera for great pictures of houses both inside and out and this camera's wide-angle lens allows for getting more of the room than traditional point-and-shoots. The other absolutely fantastic feature of this camera is the one touch button to adjust how long the shutter stays open so you can adjust for an overly bright day or a dark gloomy day!! A one-touch button allows you to maximize or minimize the amount of light and shows you what it is going to look like on the LCD screen!!! This is an amazing feature for realtors who need to take great pictures of a home and can't wait for the perfect time or day to take pictures. I also like the one-touch button to choose to focus on a person vs. a landscape which helps give equal quality to more than just the center of the photo. A camera that does all this for $200...Panasonic should promote this to the real estate community, this is exactly what I needed! Darren Keller-Williams Greater Cleveland Northeast Cleveland, OH |

I purchased this camera to replace a Canon Digital Elph. I've been tremendously impressed. Excellent features, maximum flexibility, great quality. Overall, an excellent product. I was looking for a small camera that could take high-quality pictures. I also was looking for an easy-to-use device. It has exceeded all of my expectations. Great product, great value. |
