durability
- Reviewd on: 9/3/2010 By: hermantowndeb
This is my second Fuji camera. I had a very inexpensive Fuji that I purchased with my computer in 2002. It was one of the best cameras I ever had. I even won a photo contest with it. When I decided to upgrade I did a lot of research and decided on the 1500. It worked like a charm until my recent vacation. I had the camera for less than 2 years and the LCD screen died. I can still take pictures, but cannot sight them or review them on the LCD. When I checked on how much it was to repair, I was told it was better just to buy a new camera. I am not in the position to spend that kind of money every few years. So I am disappointed with the product.

Be sure your monitor is high resolution
- Reviewd on: 8/23/2010 By: E. Plaga
I have been concerned about photos being out of focus. Or just not sharp. I blamed it on the camera, but wasn't positive since they looked sharp on the TV and on the camera LCD. I had a friend with a new LCD monitor view them and he told me they were all very sharp and even his wife commented on that without prompting.
So if you have out of focus pics, be sure you rule out the fact that an older CRT low resolution monitor could be the real cause. Not the camera. Hook it to the TV, have a few printed or have someone with a recent LCD monitor try them out before concluding anything.

Finepix S1500 - good value

Good camera. Replaced 2005 Canon Powershot S2 IS with no drop off in quality, and much cheaper [relative to current competition, then and now].

Battery Life Not Acceptable, Macro Auto-Focus Fails
- Reviewd on: 7/15/2010 By: here.it.comes.again
While the image quality is not bad for the price, the battery life on this camera is a deal braker for me. I would not recommend this camera and would definitely not buy again. On a freshly charged set of four AA high-rating lithium rechargeables, I have not gotten more than 50 shots. There is a menu setting for type of battery, but getting this right doesn't help.

Another deal-braker for me is the poor auto-focus performance in macro mode. I was never able to get a decent auto-focus in macro mode.

Also found that the little IR gizmo that assists focus is located where your fingers are sure to block it if you use the grip the way it is designed to be used.

I loved Fuji film, and I have had three Fuji digitals, but I think this was the last. All have had problems.

Daddy's camera

My father loves this camera. The setting are very user friendly. He said it was the best Father's Day gift ever.
