Sony steps up the picture quality of ultra-slim digital still cameras with the Cybershot DSC-T9 model, the first in this category to offer both Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization and high light sensitivity. With these Sony technologies, the six-megapixel DSC-T9 delivers more detailed images with significantly less blur and graininess than typical point-and-shoot cameras. Optical image stabilization reduces image blur from hand movement, while high light sensitivity helps to lessen blurriness resulting from low-light conditions. The end effect is better-focused, expressive images that look more like the way you see them, imitating the human eye.

Get a Clear Shot
Sony is the first manufacturer to incorporate an advanced lens-shift optical image stabilizer into a camera with a folded-path lens system. This is what allows for a compact form; the lens does not have to extend from the body of the camera.

The model is equipped with a newly-developed lens-shift system with two gyro-sensors that detects hand movement, and automatically calculates the compensation needed to provide a clear, crisp image.

The model's high light sensitivity (up to IS0 640) allows you to capture clearer pictures in available light, giving you the option to not use a flash, which sometimes creates unwanted glare or harsh highlights. As a result, images have greater atmosphere and more detail, even when reflective surfaces like glass and mirrors are in the pictures.

Enhanced Photo Sharing Brings Your Photos to Life
With a slim body less than one-inch wide, this compact powerhouse not only takes great pictures but also brings them to life with Sony's Clear Photo Plus LCD screen and slide show function. The 2.5-inch LCD features astonishing vividness and greatly improved color reproduction compared to previous models. It is the perfect screen to show off your pictures as a slide show, which the camera creates for you--without having to use a PC.

You can select up to four themes, such as "Stylish" or "Active," to play back your images, complete with dynamic transitions choreographed to your choice of music clips. Depending on your PC configuration, you can also upload your own music with the supplied software.

Big Features, Small Body
The DSC-T9 camera offers mega resolution at six megapixels for high-quality images, a 3x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optical zoom lens, MPEG movie recording, and 58 MB of internal memory for storage and easy transfer to an optional Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo media card, now available in capacities up to two gigabytes.

As with other T-series cameras, you simply slide the lens cover down and the camera is ready to capture images in seconds. Despite the power consumption of the optical image stabilizer, Sony's Real Imaging Processor power management system helps this model to achieve exceptional battery life, up to 240 shots per charge.

More For Your Memories
With the DSC-T9's slide show feature, sharing your photos right on the camera's LCD is more enjoyable. You can even connect directly to your television with supplied cables. However, if prints are what you want, then you can connect the model to a Sony DPP-FP50 digital photo printer and print from the convenience of your own home. Don't think that you're limited to basic prints with this camera; you can even create postcards or calendars using the printer's supplied software.

Sleek Styling
The stainless metallic finish is a knockout--and its 5/8-inch thickness makes the DSC-T9 an amazing demonstration of Sony's ability to combine high-tech performance features in ultra-compact dimensions.

6.0 Megapixel Super HAD CCD

It's another step up in megapixel performance, giving each photo greater detail when you make large prints and post photos on the Internet--with Sony's advanced Super HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design that allow more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise.

Super SteadyShot Optical Image Stabilization
Sony's Super SteadyShot system uses sensors to detect camera movement while it sends correcting signals in order to stabilize the lens. This system results in the reduction of image blur and camera shake when shooting in low light.

Shoot Natural Images Indoors Without Flash
Why ruin the mood by using a flash? Along with Sony's Super SteadyShot system, you'll have higher ISO sensitivity for bright indoor scenes, even in very low light--plus Sony's Clear RAW Noise Reduction system to counter the picture noise traditionally associated with high ISO.

Carl Zeiss 3x Optical/2x Precision Digital Zoom
An ingenious folding optical path provides 3x optical zoom capability in amazingly compact camera dimensions--and Sony's precision 2x digital zoom lets you zoom in on a subject without creating jagged edges.

Capture Images In-Camera
With 58 MB Internal Memory, the DSC-T9 allows you to shoot photos without a flash memory card--then transfer your images to Memory Stick Duo media, upload to your computer or make prints on your digital printer.

Adjustable Clear Photo LCD Plus Screen
With its Clear Photo LCD Plus design, the DSC-T9's big, bright 2.5-inch screen raises the standard for built-in, on-screen picture viewing--and gives you adjustable brightness to images look better even in bright sunlight.

Slide Show with Music Playback
The DSC-T9 lets you view in-camera images in Slide Show sequence, with one-button operation, selectable transition effects and up to four music background tracks that make it more entertaining to share your memories with family and friends. You can even use supplied Picture Package Music Transfer software to add your own favorite music.

High-Stamina InfoLithium Rechargeable Battery
A supplied NP-FT1 InfoLithium rechargeable battery lets you shoot up to 2,404 pictures, recharges quickly and easily with no "memory effect," and shows you how much shooting time remains.

13x Smart Zoom Feature (at VGA Resolution)
The Cybershot DSC-T9 gives you Sony's 13x Smart Zoom feature to zoom in on your subject.

Optional Cybershot Station Cradle
For fast, no-hassle hookup, the DSC-T9 snaps into an optional, compatible Cybershot Station cradle with USB connector for your PC, TV connector for viewing images on large screens, AC power input for recharging your InfoLithium battery.

Real Imaging Processor LSI
To improve camera response and extend battery life, Sony's Real Imaging Processor LSI (Large Scale Integrated) circuit decreases shutter lag, improves picture quality and clarity, and increases battery stamina.

Memory Stick Duo Media
The DSC-T9 has a built-in slot for optional Memory Stick Duo media that provides ultra-compact, high-capacity shooting and recording.

Nice Camera, but breaks easily
- Reviewd on: 2008-02-20 By: Calvin
This was a nice camara until it reached 2 years of use. An error message came up, focus seems broke down. Camara was not dropped or anything. I searched online, and found a lot people having same problem, some saying by hitting the side of it might get rid of the error message, but it didn't work for me. Don't buy if you looking for something that you can use for a longer time period.

Don't Do It!
- Reviewd on: 2007-11-25 By: Katie
I have had this camera for a year an a half. In that time it has taken many photos for me, most of them good, the rest blurry or overexposed. (blurry even when using the stabilizer. It's a big problem). My main problem with this quarrel is that about a year ago, a little bump caused some screws to come out of the camera and then the casing actually began to separate. Now, Sony took it back under warranty, fixed it, and returned it. A couple months later, a couple other screws went missing for no apparent reason. Again, sent back, returned fixed. Now, it's started doing this really annoying vibrating thing sometimes when I'm trying to take photos, which causes them to come out very, very blurry. I have no idea why it does this, and am currently shopping for a new camera. I heard the newer Cybershots are better, but am cautious to buy Sony again because this experience was so bad. I shouldn't need to buy a new camera after having this one for less than a year and a half, even less when considering it spent about two months of that being repaired. Oh, another thing, the flipdoor will come open in your pocket or purse, and waste battery. Luckily, the battery life is good, but it's still irritating and can't be good for the camera.

Don't do it, find another camera.

Dissapointing
- Reviewd on: 2007-09-19 By: Jennifer Marcus
Hi,

Ok, so the camera was AMAZING the first two days until I dropped it into the toilet in its case. Now, obviosuly this is my fault. It dried out and I brought it in to a camera specialist who said it was fine but I feel the pictures were not as clear. So now it is just sitting here on my desk and I can't use my $400 camera. But the camera was great...i don't recommend buying this porduct online. You can't send it or take it back.

Good but beware of limitations
- Reviewd on: 2007-04-06 By: Alberto Vargas
I have had this camera for 8+ months and used it extensively. I have had plenty of experience with many other digital and film cameras.

Its main pros:
+ small size (internal zoom helps)
+ good looks
+ silent operation

Cons:
- very noisy images, smudged by the camera's noise reduction
- very bad and overly strong flash, overwhelms subject indoors
- useless red-eye technology
- relatively short battery life

Basically, this is a cool party cam. For most images, esp. indoors, I need to edit with Photoshop or some other program to eliminate red eyes and fix exposure due to flash issues. The images cannot be sharpened (unlike say a Canon) because of the aggressive smudging from the noise reduction algorithm.

I like this camera but many a time I wish I had bought a Canon digital elph instead.

Awesome Camera!!!!
- Reviewd on: 2007-01-19 By: Carla Brutico
I just love this camera! The quality of the photos and videos are excellent. The battery life has never been a problem at all. It's very easy to store in it's dock. The videos are great and so convenient that I find myself taking more videos with this camera than with my video camera.
